We made up menus with weird names for almost every thing...like for your plate we had pot wholes which ment cup cake baking pan...lol and for food we had walk down sesame street which was sesame chicken...yummm! we made every one check out idems for each area of idems and while they waited for mom and I to make their plates
we had them go over to the salad bar we set up with tons of things for them to choose from and make their own salads. Then just sit at the table, which only had napkins and forks, butter and salt and pepper.
After dinner was done and everyone was laughing over the silly things they had to eat...oh and the amounts were funny we cave them like 1 carrot and a tbs of rice.... the point to that came out in the FHE lesson which was... Salad bar- reps. the gosple and how what you see is what you get. You can choose to how much you want to learn (eat) and what you want to learn (eat). The salad bar was clear, no weird names to miss leading...and you also had so many choices to make your salad (life/knowledge) amazing (the Book of Mormon, prayer, scriptures, etc.)
The dinner was bad choices you make when you live for the now... see some of the names were miss leading like happy cows come from california (which most people though milk...right cows... or even beef since they had no idea what area they picked from was what) but some one picked it and they got orange juice. Some people picked noodles with no sauce, or chicken with no rice. some even picked chicken and rice... but you never know what life will bring some people aren't that lucky. If you make choice based of fun, now, and exciting how do you know onc it's done and over with and now the consiquenses are infront of you... how do you know how bad it will be. See we left nakins on the table for every one we left butter for their bread, knife to cut the chicken...they didn't even knotice that. Like god he's not just going to leave you in the dark he'll always give you a way to help you make life easy it's up to you to realize what it is and go from there. After we talked about some other things we told them about why we gave them so little. When you make bad choices it never works out the way you want it to, but after you make the choice God always give you a second chance to use your knowledge and make better choices... so we told every one to come around the blocked off area and make their own plate with the same food (like they did with the salad bar) oh yeah some people had things on their plate that could have been better if they'd used the salad bar which was right there all the time, but they didn't think of doing that like the gospil it's always there welcoming everyone to come in.
It was such a fun night and wow did mom and i have a blast planning and watching every one!
